Penn Elm Medical Group is a long-standing family practice in Escondido, California. We serve residents of many local communities including Carlsbad, Encinitas, Escondido, Fallbrook, North San Diego County, Oceanside, Poway, Ramona, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego, San Marcos, Temecula, Valley Center, Vista, and the North County Indian Reservations.

Our group consists of ten primary care physicians (family practice) who are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical care to patients of all ages. We are the ONLY Scripps Clinic Affiliate in Escondido, and are affiliated with the local hospital—Palomar Pomerado Health System.

A physician is on-call 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. We accept a variety of HMOs, PPOs, and other health plans. Please see our insurance page or call (760) 745-2000 to find out if your insurance is accepted.

FAMILY PRACTICE is a medical specialty that requires three additional years of training in the comprehensive diagnosis, care, and treatment of most common medical problems. Below is a partial list of medical services we provide.

• Acute and preventive care of diabetes, obesity, hypertension, allergies, asthma, infectious disease, and other common medical conditions
• Physical exams (annual, school, employment, adoption, pre-op, DMV, etc.)
• Newborn, pediatric, and adolescent healthcare
• Women’s healthcare: obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) care, pap smears, family planning, menopause
• Geriatrics: care of seniors

• Dermatology, including minor cosmetic surgery and skin cancer
• Nutrition, fitness counseling, and sports-related medicine
• Immunizations
• Hospital and out-patient surgery including skin procedures; treatment of warts, skin cancers, lacerations; no-scalpel vasectomy; flexible sigmoidoscopy-colon cancer screening; joint injections
• Pulmonary function testing
• X-ray services including mammography and Dexascans (for osteoporosis screening)
